Don Krumpos is an artist, muralist, and co-founder of Yonder, the studio and gallery he opened with Erin LaBonte in Algoma, Wisconsin in 2019. He has painted more than forty public murals across the Midwest, and builds immersive, hand-wrought work — assemblage, installation, and shadow puppetry — that embraces the spectacle of live performance and the participatory act of making.
He grew up on a century-old hobby farm in Northeast Wisconsin, cobbling together inventions from his father’s cast-iron machinery and developing a lifelong kinship for bric-a-brac and found objects. That instinct runs through everything: a mythology of the overlooked, drawn in watercolor field-notes, raised into public walls, and gathered into a wagon built to the length of a body.
