Commission Yonder

Start a project

Yonder makes murals, participatory public art, school collaborations, installations, and design — as managed projects, not just paint. A commission covers concept development, community or stakeholder engagement, design, production planning, execution, and documentation; community paint days and launch events where they fit.

Sixty-plus murals and ninety-plus projects across the Midwest — the archive is here. School or community-led project? The School Mural Lab has tiers, costs, and funding paths.

What projects cost

Small-format and interior murals — a single wall, full Yonder character — begin around $2,500. Full-scale and exterior murals generally begin around $8,000. Participatory school and community projects commonly fall between $15,000 and $35,000, depending on scale, preparation, travel, and engagement.

Private workshops begin at $650; traveling organizational workshops generally begin at $900.

These are thresholds, not quotes — wall size, surface preparation, equipment, travel, and the depth of community engagement all shape the final number. Not sure where your project fits? A Public Art Planning Session ($750–$2,500, credited toward the project when it proceeds) scopes complex or committee-driven work properly.

What happens next

  1. We reply within two business days.
  2. A short conversation — 25 minutes, no obligation — about the wall, the site, the people, and what you want the finished thing to do.
  3. A straightforward proposal; or for larger and committee-driven projects, a Planning Session that scopes the whole thing before anyone commits to the big number.
