Ephraim Fyr Bal Festival
Ephraim, WI
An illustrated poster for the Ephraim Fyr Bal Festival — the village’s Scandinavian welcome-to-summer tradition, where bonfires are lit along the shore of Eagle Harbor to chase off the spirits of winter. The design honors that old-world feel with vintage pen-and-ink: two flaming bål torches framing the title, a hare and a crow keeping watch from a tangle of ferns and wildflowers, and the Ephraim church and a sailboat tucked into the harbor below. A fiddle, a drum, and a fishing net anchor the banner with the dates.
This is the studio’s illustration voice at full strength — dense engraving-style linework, a single hit of fire-orange in the lettering, and a composition built to feel like it was pulled from a hundred-year-old almanac. The kind of poster that becomes a keepsake long after the festival’s over.
